We’re all goin here right

Imagine if play was something encouraged in adults, places to run and jump and climb because it’s fun

I never know what the machines do at the gym, but i will clamber to the top of the tower to slide into a ball pit

I am 100% certain I would be in better physical condition if adults were allowed to play in ways that focus on fun and aren’t competitive.

I recommend trying bouldering - it’s basically that :)

The gym near my house has been closed for three years because of COVID and renovations so not going isn’t good for my mental health

See, the thing about watching Sesame Street with kids is that none of the humans on the show are capable of functioning as audience identification characters for the parents in the room because they’re obliged to Set Good Examples. This doesn’t mean there isn’t one, though; the audience identification character for the parents in the room is Bert.

ppl who oppose gender affirming care for kids are nuts like the extent of medical intervention for trans kids is maybe puberty blockers but they’ll still be like “SO UR SAYING WE SHOULD LET TODDLERS HAVE TOP SURGERY???????” barbara toddlers do not have a top to surgery

Saw someone asking “so do you endorse giving puberty blockers to five year olds?”

Friend, a five year old should not have puberty to block. If they do that’s called precocious puberty and is the original reason puberty blockers were invented. If a five year old is going through puberty I absolutely endorse them being given puberty blockers

About ten years ago I decided that the next step I needed to take in my life was to accept and explore what it meant to be a failure and to have failed. This infuriated almost everybody in my life and clearly terrified a lot of people. People do not want you to accept failure. They dont want you to like… Sit with and think about it and pick it up and turn it arpund in your hands and really examine it. They want you to keep throwing yourself against the impossible walls until your body explodes! They do not want you to say “alright then, I’ve failed. What does that mean for me? Im still here. What does the life of someone who has failed look like?”

This makes people very angry and panicky.

My mental health improved in ways it had not in the previous DECADE once I stopped. And. Sat. With failure. And thought about what my failure … Was. And looked at the structures that produced it and examined them critically.

It is so taboo to fail and admit it openly and talk about it. It is so taboo to talk about or think about failure in an accepting way rather than hiding it shamefully until you experience a degree of success in some area which allows you to present the past failure as “a stepping stone” to your current situation. Fuck that. We are put in positions of guaranteed failure by society every day and then punished and shamed for it. Lets fucking talk about failure

“some women just naturally want to wax their legs and put on makeup every single day and get botox injections and a nose job!!! let people do what they want!” you do realize you dont live in a bubble and your actions and thoughts are influenced by society at large. and that criticizing misogynistic systems put into place isnt attacking you directly. you get that right

[ID: Tumblr tags reading, “#you do know that some people do that because they’re disgusted by their natural bodies right”./end ID]

hey quick question. do u genuinely think that women are naturally disgusted by normal things such as body hair. or could it maybe be the inhumane standards ingrained in us from birth.

[ID: Tumblr tags reading: “#just let people do what they want jeez! #my mom and sister said i can do whatever but it’s personal hygiene #no I don’t want gorilla legs so I shave”. /end ID]

have you maybe thought about why you don’t want “gorilla legs” ? have you thought about why shaving is considered basic hygiene for women and yet it’s not expected of men? i’m not attacking any specific woman or forcing anyone at gunpoint not to shave their legs or get cosmetic surgery to “fix” their natural features, i’m just asking WHY you feel it is necessary to modify your body.

Funny how that works

I am so pleased at how many notes are some version of “I don’t fear the science, I fear the corporations who control it” because that is EXACTLY the attitude you should have. GMOs can save us. Monsanto will kill us.

what people fear about GMO- ‘theyre gonna make frankencarrots that crave human flesh and cause diarrhea ’

what GMO actually is- ‘we made rice crop that is both drought resistant and flood resistant which will prevent about 20% of major famine disasters, also it now makes vitamin A because vitamin A deficiency in poverty stricken areas is a major killer of kids as most vitamin A rich foods dont grow there’

what people SHOULD be upset about- ‘i made all crops sterile so all farmers have to buy the seed from me in perpetuity and i will sue anyone who tries to go back to crops that produce their own seed’

All of those would be cheaper than imprisoning people, so if you’re against it, it can’t be because of money.

One of the most successful illusions the prison industrial complex and its proponents create is that these issues which result in high incarceration rates (poverty, homelessness, “breaking the law”) are unsolvable. Or rather, that incarceration somehow solves these things.

The truth is that policing and incarceration exacerbates these issues. Every dollar spent on building prisons is money not spent on all of the responses mentioned above.

as soon as you understand that prisons are for profit and provide slave labor the reason why the status quo demands we don’t provide this stuff for citizens becomes clear. We need a constant supply of slaves to keep everything afloat is the underlying belief of capitalism.
